H1N1 Vaccine. iVaccinated #2.

Ouch!

(Just kidding. Hardly felt a thing.)

Here I am once again getting jabbed. A kind nurse with deft poking skills administers the H1N1 vaccine. A few things that will not happen due to this vaccine:

-- I will not develop swine flu.
-- I will not become autistic.
-- I will not develop Guillain Barre disease.
-- I will not die.
-- And... there is no micro-chip recording my every move by the "Guvmint!"

Herd immunity folks. The more people vaccinated the less likely a pandemic can unfold. Do your part.

Cheers!

Who in the hell thinks all this?

Anyway, under the theory of Herd Immunity, you've got me covered... Thanks,. ;-)

  2. "Who in the hell thinks all this?"

    Far too many people.

Only 15 bucks at Giant. Free of charge in other places. Doesn't hurt a bit. What are you afraid of? Be responsible. Do it.

  3. Afraid? Responsible? (interesting intimidation tactic ;-)

Not afraid of a thing including the flu. Never received a flu shot, never had the flu... One day maybe but I see no reason to upset the apple cart. Being responsible enough to eat healthy and stay healthy has worked very well for me and those around me. Not overloading with antibiotics and one vaccine after another has kept my immune system less dependent on outside assistance and very strong all on its own.

    Your mileage may very.

BTW, what was it you said to me once? You've got to stop "hitching your wagon" to the sensationalized press and reports about a minority of very stupid people. It's hard sometimes not to think every one is stupid I know, but have faith in your fellow man. Not everyone who won't take the H1N1 is a Conspiracy Nut or a Fucking Idiot. ;-)

  4. "Intimidation tactic"? No just a suggestion. Take it or leave it.

Being healthy (and the jury is out on your health. remember telling me about what your doctor said?) does not prevent people from getting the flu.

Vaccines and antibiotics are, and do, completely different things. Over use of antibiotics can be bad. Getting vaccinations? Not so much. And you have no immunity to the flu.

"Not everyone who won't take the H1N1 is a Conspiracy Nut or a Fucking Idiot."

I didn't say they were. Don't be so sensitive. But you should still be responsible.

  5. LOL... My minor blood pressure issue is hereditary and clearly has nothing to do with my immune system or the propensity of contracting H1N1. Since we are of the same blood, you should make sure you keep your BP in check too. Probably more important to your health than any flu shot. Certainly more detrimental.

Sensitive... You continue to take me too seriously so who's being sensitive? ;-)

BTW: heard an ABC news break report on the radio a couple of weeks ago that suggested as many as 4 out of 5 domestic H1N1 diagnosis were not actually H1N1.

  6. Right, and you said you were going to ignore the doctor's advice. (very responsible!) But that's not the point. The point is... good health or bad health, you are not immune to H1N1. Nor are those around you. And avoiding vaccines does not strengthen your immune system in any way. That's simply wrong headed thinking.

I will say this... Someone who is NOT a conspiracy nut and who does NOT have an IQ like that of Forrest Gump has no excuse not to get the vaccine. It is the height of irresponsibility to forgo this shot. If you don't get the flu it is because you're getting a free ride from those of us who took the time and effort to get vaccinated. Your welcome!

And thanks, but my blood pressure (and cholesterol and heart rate and white blood cell count) is/are and has always been in the very good range. (It's not just genetics but lifestyle as well.)

    Finally, I have searched high and low for that info about 4 out of 5 cases... can find nothing. A little conspiracy, perhaps? ;^}

Remind me again, why aren't you getting the shot, Rob?

  7. tee hee, just reading the banter for amusement. Got my shot today and it cost nothing. Very efficient and they are monitoring any reactions. My mind wanders back to when Jonas Salk developed the vaccine for polio. Having known someone who suffered from polio as a child, we were very glad to have some protection against it. I guess we could have relied on our natural immunity against it--oh wait--we didn't have any! Guess the same is true about that silly small pox vaccination we got as children. It would have been so much better to have pocks all over our faces and nearly die, because then we would have resistance to it, that is, IF YOU DIDN'T DIE. I'm not a fan of doctors or drugs, but sometimes they do make sense. Alas, Nature may be using this as a way of weeding out the less enlightened. Just a thought...
